Can Chemo Cure Cancer

What would a vaccine need to do to be able to cure cancer and viruses?
Hopefully one day a cure for cancer will be found- right now the radiation and chemo treatments seem as dangerous as the cancer…
For there to be a truly successful cancer treatment/vaccine, what would it need to be able to do to purge the body of cancer? Since cancer seems determines on a genetic level, im not sure it can ever be cured.
Since viruses tend to mutate, I doubt HIV will ever be ‘cured’- but maybe people will develop immunity, like they did after the influenza outbreak of 1918.
But what do you think- for a medcicine/vaccine to be able to defeat cancer and viruses like HIV- what will they need to be able to do?

Cancer is fundamentally a defect in or caused to cell replication, the body’s immune system unable to recognize those defective/cancer cells and remove them is what lets cancer continue.
The inability for the immune system to recognize is (in most part) genetic, that is why some people are more prone to cancer than others.
If you want to train the immune system ahead of time to recognize cancer cells (using a vaccine) and rid them, there is the issue of how describe models of each type of cancer, and there are literally hundreds of types of cancer.
There are also literally hundreds of types of cold viruses, and creating a model (vaccine) for each one is not practical.
There is also the issue of genetic predisposition, we have identified certain predispositions, but developing a treatment has proven more difficult. Just because you know what causes something does not mean you have found a way to fix it. There are also, in fact, no form of gene therapy that works to this day.
